The Super Mario Galaxy Movie Trailer Arrives, Revealing Fresh Faces Rosalina & Bowser Jr. Voices
Nintendo alongside Illumination shared the initial complete preview for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie midweek. It was showcased in a dedicated Nintendo presentation that focused exclusively on the forthcoming animated feature.
The follow-up to the successful 2023 release The Super Mario Bros. Movie, this latest chapter will send Mario to the distant reaches of the cosmos. In his journey, he meets a new princess and a powerful new opponent in Bowser Jr., the offspring of the Koopa King.
An Interstellar Journey Inspired by Iconic Releases
In the vein of the games from the Wii period that serve as its inspiration, Mario will leave behind the cozy environment of the Mushroom Kingdom to travel across the galaxy. On his epic voyage, he will meet again some well-known personalities, including the Luma, a fan favorite from the first movie.
But it appears Mario and his brother Luigi will battle a different foe in the form of Bowser's irate young son, who apparently commands metallic abilities. Notably, the teaser for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is not only concentrated on Galaxy-themed scenes; it also includes nods to further iconic releases like Super Mario Odyssey and Bowser's Fury.
Celebrity Voice Actors Reprise Roles and Welcome Newcomers
The feature will welcome back of the primary vocal talent, with Chris Pratt as Mario, Anya Taylor-Joy as Peach, Charlie Day as Luigi, Jack Black as Bowser, Keegan-Michael Key as Toad, and Kevin Michael Richardson as Kamek.
Fresh faces in the lineup for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie are Brie Larson, who will voice Rosalina, and Benny Safdie, set to play Bowser Jr. It was announced by Chris Meledandri, the chief executive of Illumination.
A Significant Period for Mario
Mario's latest cinematic adventure is planned to debut close to the 40th anniversary of the first Super Mario Bros. title. Beyond the film, 2026 looks set to be a major period for Mario and his allies.
Nintendo confirmed three new games officially announced for the upcoming year, featuring Mario Tennis Fever, a Switch 2 edition of Super Mario Bros. Wonder, and a new Yoshi platformer titled Yoshi and the Mysterious Book.
Release Date Confirmed
The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is officially set to be released on April 3, 2026.
